Last night I went to my first Mardi Gras parade since 2020. For some reading this, it is hard to understand why that’s a big deal. However, I am from Mobile, Alabama. Mardi Gras was birthed here and Mobilians are born with purple, yellow, and green in their veins.

When I went to that last parade two years ago, there was no way I could have known it was my last outing in public for a while. I was oblivious, but so was the rest of the world.
